Pleasant Avenue Reconstruction

OCBA was retained by the City of Sturgis to conduct a participatory design charrette that would foster community engagement and provide input for the Pleasant Avenue streetscape design. The City’s goal was to create a flexible use space on this two-block street that could be closed off to support the weekly farmers’ market and other events. The City received grant funding from an MDOT Transportation Alternatives grant to reconstruct the existing brick street. The original bricks, placed in 1915, were salvaged and reused in the street reconstruction.
