Blandford Nature Center and the Land Conservancy of West Michigan are working together to restore the former Highlands Golf Club into a public greenspace within the City of Grand Rapids. OCBA was retained to develop a master plan that guides habitat restoration and public use of the 121-acre property.

Environmental enhancements proposed in the master plan include:

  • Wetland creation

  • Prairie restoration

  • Daylighting a county drain to create a stream with floodplain wetlands

  • Providing hydrological connections to existing waterbodies and wetlands.

  • Public access to barrier free and low impact trails
