Project Description

City of Bay City

OCBA was retained by the Bay City Downtown Development Authority to develop a master plan for Wenonah Park.  The park, located in the center of downtown on the edge of the Saginaw River, was underutilized, primarily due to the lack of physical connection to both downtown and the river.  OCBA conducted a design charrette with city staff, the DDA, the Wenonah Park Master Plan Steering Committee, and the public to establish preliminary concepts for the park.

Master plan recommendations included the redesign of the existing band shell, a new river walk and other pedestrian facilities to improve the walkability of the park and create better connectivity to downtown.  The master plan also included the incorporation of art features, park furnishings, lighting, and landscaping.  Improvements to the river edge included an upper and lower level river walk promenade to enhance marine access to the park.
