Project Description

Client

Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy

OCBA assisted the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy (SWMLC) to conduct a two-day charrette to build consensus among local community residents and stakeholder groups for public use of a 25-acre former camp on the shore of Lake Michigan.  Because the site has been private property for the memorable past, nearby neighbors had many concerns about opening the property up for public use.  The intent of the charrette was to listen to and understand the issues, and then develop options depicting varying levels of development and public use.

The charrette was held at the site, and over 200 people provided input and walked the site over the two day event.  OCBA is continuing to work with the SWMLC to hone the multiple options into a preferred concept for the site development.
