OCBA assisted the City of Homer in the 1990’s with obtaining a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant for Grist Mill Park for the following improvements:

  • Wildlife observation deck and on-grade boardwalk

  • Paths and a pedestrian entry

  • Sand volleyball court

  • Playground improvements

  • Fishing pier with gazebo overlook

  • Directional signage and landscaping

In 2019 OCBA developed design concepts to expand parking; replace the restroom building and picnic shelter with a flexible facility; provide sledding hill amenities; and add more boardwalk and another fishing dock area on the lake.

OCBA continues to work with the City in 2021 to create additional boardwalks, event space, gathering space, and a splash area within this very popular park.
